Viva Salt Lake 2011, Wret's story

Viva Salt Lake music fest. 2011; the tickets were only $10 and I solemnly swear... It was awesome. One with tickets that cheap, I'm surprised how moderate the prices were on everything, but that's not the best part.

At this festival, I got to see new local bands perform like- Hard Rockin' Johnsons and Split Lid (I liked these guys), also other bands like Hour13 and the Codie Jordan Band. And for the last three shows were the guests of honor: Royal Bliss, Ed Kowalczyck of LIVE, and Fuel.

They had other stuff there going on, a lot of it was drinking, but there were booths with food, merchandise, my school set one up there, free bull riding, etc. Basically packed with business.

The highlight of the day:

Well, to explain: after talking to a university professor in animation, he suggested for me to work on drawing from life. So while waiting for the next show, I started drawing a guy across from me to start; until Royal Bliss started, So I decided for the occasion to draw the band. My friends and other people standing around were looking at me while the show was happening and were suggesting that I get Royal Bliss to see it and sign it. So after the performance, they were doing signings and I was finishing the drawing, I went to them with the picture.

I have never had so much praise in my life!

All the member's of Royal Bliss loved them, the fans loved them, even Neal's kids liked them too!

Which this also lead to the manager to ask me to draw them caricatures, which I was excited to hear (but I missed Ed Kowalczyk for it, oh well)

Again they loved them, and as far as I know Neal Middleton has or said he will get it matted and framed.

It was a great day! And another cool thing to finish it was Fuel playing all there best stuff, like Last Time, Empty Spaces, Bad Day, Shimmer, Jesus or a Gun, one cover I never got, and finally Hemorrage (in my hands)! Despite technical difficulties, the sad part was when Brett turned the microphone to the crowd to sing on "Bad Day", and guess who was singing the lyrics...  I was all by myself, though I don't think they heard me. Who can't remember the lyrics: "... Spilled some coffee- broke a silver lace... Smeared the lipstick on her face..."?

All I know is I must've sounded beautiful, or else why would Brett say "you all sound beautiful, tonight!" when I was the only one?

But I digress...

Awesome show, awesome experience, awesome day with awesome people and bands!

Apologies to: Royal Bliss's manager- if you ever come across this I forgot your name  sorry, but I remember your face at least. You were awesome, man!
