My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

That's Right Folks, I'm actually making a review-tribute to...

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a "Colt" hit, and it's popularity is spreading like fire.  The show has great stories, great characters, Great Designs, and best of all... Fun for everyone!

It's a surprise to see this show appealing to older guys; you know, one would think it was a creepy fetish-reason like with such infamous cartoons like Lucky Star, but you'd be Dead wrong to assume so with Lauren Faust's My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.

I think the real enlightenment might be due to childhood bypass.  without having to complicatingly explaining it, the old ponies weren't for boys; too girly and pretentious for even girls to be honest.  So when everyone heard there was a new line of ponies, the first thought was "Pfft, sure", but then the advert came on, the first thing that got everyone were their fun, energetic designs.  It was only a matter of time for some people to watch it and fall in love with the show (don't roll your eyes, you know what I mean).

I still think the show is for little girls, it's just not about preparing for parties, making dresses, etc. the show is actually about the characters and their situations and conflicts, which makes it more believable and honestly more interesting.  There's no pillow-cushioning this show, the characters do big things like, quests, mysteries, adventures, and fight monsters (they fight! Kick! POW! THWAMP!! They even occasionally fight each other!).  And in some episodes, you even get to watch some of the characters have Mental Breakdowns; which are very fun and enjoyable; they also make tons of lovable faces.

Unlike the last My Little Pony shows, The Characters are unique and Iconic which allows there to be conflict with each character, which results with... A STORY?  Which in respect, I learned that the old shows from the 80's and 90's did have story to their episodes that allow character development, but in the past-recent years, My little pony was just a line of air-headed sell out; but, hope returned with the G4!
It's not that the girls don't do "girly things", they're still girls, it's that each character has their own personality and the show opens up for variety and huge relief of the clichés.  The Characters and their interactions are well-rounded and dynamic, which allows each episode to have something new for each and all characters.  It's even possible to find episodes where the characters don't get along.

Character means personality, personality means uniqueness, Uniqueness means conflict, conflict means plot, and plot makes a Story!

______________________________________________________________________
Each character in a nutshell-

Twilight- purple unicorn w/ purple mane w/ pink streak:

  • nerdy bookworm, new girl. Expert on magic and logic, new to friendship.

Pinkie Pie- pink pony:

  • goofball, hyper, random/unpredictable. Loves parties and making cupecakes, it's a miracle if she can make sense.

Rainbowdash- blue pegasus w/ rainbow mane:

  • punk, tough, athletic, competitive, rough. Big on sports

Applejack- orange pony:

  • farm girl sterio-type, hard worker, determined, honest. Family pride for family famous for their apples, capable of biting off more than she can chew.

Rarity*- white unicorn w/ violet mane:

  • graceful/proper, picky, generous, and creative. Passion for making dresses, can take care of herself but will do about anything without getting herself dirty (bit of a minx).

Fluttershy*- yellow Pegasus w/ pink mane:

Spike*- purple dragon:

  • Helpful/handy, sarcastic, loyal. Only guy among the group, works hard, #1 assistant to Twilight, secretly has a crush on-

"FOREVER!"

Yes, Yes, I know, Pinkie.  Giving away secrets, loose friends. I Know, I Know!

Sorry, People!  Spike's Crush is Classified-
"Forever..."
well, okay!... No, It's Not Pinkie!  That I can tell you!

I can't force you to watch it, nor will I try to, but I am here to say that I like this show.  And the more I watch this show, the more I get drawn into it!  it's actually a TV show I don't want to miss, and season 2 has already arrived

If there's any better explanation for this show, it's left to the hands of Chad Rocco.  see his video- Familiar Faces- My Little Pony Retrospective pt. 2

My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic-
Five Stars ***** (fun, charming, emotional, hilarious, exciting, and well-rounded)

THE MY LITTLE PONIES ARE EVERYWHERE

Even I can say I was already thinking it was a silly show, but then one character (usually Pinkie) would say something funny and I'd be running out of my room saying "what did she say?".  though me saying this as an honest fact, the one thing that would/would've kept me and a whole lot of people off this show was the fact that over a thousand guys in their 20-50's were obsessed with the show.  But all prevails and I started watching the show, and I actually love it.

The scary thing that is happening is there are those Bronies (boys fans of My Little Pony) are trying to get their friends into the show, and I think I've even came to that.

It's hard to believe that a guy like me, who loves Horror, Action Thrillers series Like Hellboy and Batman, would actually come to watch My Little Pony.  Unfortunately I've been told by all my friends that like the edge that I've been annoying them with the show, and I didn't even realize I was doing that! So to my embarrassment, I was inspired to draw this political cartoon-

gotta learn the boundaries, but how strong are those borders anyway?

Noam's Stolen image and a story to be heard

earlier today in my Design college class, my teacher showed the class a video documentary about Noam Galai and his image that became a world phenomenon and a copyright theft marketing image (and if you don't believe this, then hit the link bellow and tell me you haven't seen the image before)

the video is mind-opening, educational and effective
see it at vimeo.com/20718237- or hit Link

also, if you wonder if an image of yours is stolen and is being used against your rights, then try out www.tineye.com. Noam Galai used this program to find all the uses of his image.

Feed The Machine Tour, Salt Lake City 2011

Yesterday, I got the chance to see my favorite band perform on tour here in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Me and two friend of mine went as a group, and people...

RED rocked the house and it was AWESOME!

The concert was at this venue downtown called "The Complex". What I didn't see was both how many people came to see Red and how small the Venue was, and I think that cured my cluster-phobia. Though I wished I had a better/or a camera at all, But I'm so glad I had my phone at the least for pictures.

For the opening performances they got Red Jumpsuit Apparatus and Evans|Blue, Evans|Blue was the first to perform.

I've heard of them for a while, but I don't think I actually got to hear them. to me they're a bit like Breaking Benjamin but harder and darker, and I instantly liked them that night; and me and my friends got a chance to get our pictures taken with them.
Me and my friends with Evans Blue

(I'm the one with Wret's blue shirt)

after that, Red Jumpsuit Apparatus. All I really want to say is I think the vocalist is in his twenties-thirties, but he looks like he's 15. speaking of which, they're lead guitarist is 17 and holy crap... he's good!

then it was the best part of the show- RED!!

I lost my voice screamo-ing to the first song, "feed the machine"; and it only got worst through "Wasting Time", "Let Go", and more. They played a lot of their best songs, like "Faceless", "The Outside", "Confessions (what's inside my head)", "Shadows", "Not Alone", "Already Over", and more...

They also made their show very entertaining with tricks, lights and tricks, and when I say "performance" I mean it; during the song "Death of Me", Michael (vocalist) was putting on the show as if he was really at the other member's throats- grabbing their collars, him and Randy (bass and back-up vocals) were screaming into the microphones, they actually looked like they were angry with each other. Well, to skip all the details, they ended the show with their hits "Breathe into Me" and "The Best is Yet to Come".

after the show, Red then did autographs. Their I wished I had my Red poster printed off for them-

I also forgot to get a photo of the band! but it was all cool in the end, got a different poster signed by the members, bought a "Red" T-shirt and other merchandise-

it was a great night to see great bands and meet great people! I hope they perform in Utah again sometime soon!

Song stuck in my head has been found!

Just a somewhat interesting journal... For a while now, I've had this song stuck in my head for almost half a year now; just heard it on the radio, if you understand. And today at 3:15 pm! At a local Graywhale outlet (record store), I have found the song!

The song was "Lakini's Juice" by Live

And to celebrate, I bought the CD; now that I know what it was. So now my quest is over... And now I'm off for new adventure!

.... If you found this interesting, then thanks!

See you all next time for something important!

P.S.- is anyone with a Facebook getting mid-eastern named people with rock star middle names trying to mob you into being their friends?
