Digital Formatting vs Printing Formatting, 72dpi vs 300dpi

NOTE: this is not an art bash, and I would highly recommend following the artist's work; link provided in their usernames in the line bellow name

I've recently purchase a design from Society6 of the art piece by Silisboo, or mablerok
"you don’t have to be uchi to join the uchi gang!
(also made it available as a shirt!)"

I can't tell you how awesome this design of their's is, and I liked it so much that I went out and bought a T-shirt of it to add to my odd collection of T-shirts

and moments ago the shirt finally arrived and... well...

actual close up
It could be that this was an iron-on transfer, but it's quality is quite muddy; also doesn't help since I purchased the light gray shirt and it came darker than what the site presented.

I'm not hating the shirt, and most definitely won't call for a refund, but it does leave a bit of sour in the mouth when it looks like this, And it leads in to a rant of mine about artists working with 72dpi vs 300dpi.

dpi- Dots Per Inch
(I don't know what the term would be in the metric system, unfortunately)

72dpi is usually a default resolution for digital applications because 72 is the resolution for most computers and television screens. 300dpi is the resolution that which most print from on paper, books, and T-shirts (exception on billboards and banners). also 350dpi is the usual resolution for photographs; taken and printed, slightly hire for detail.

I'm not the greatest teacher, and I don't have enough resources and knowledge to thoroughly speak about this. But I will advise that artists should take a look into researching about printing and resolutions/sizes, both for on hand knowledge and for selling and distributing their work as prints. And if you yourself have some info to add/share/correct, feel free to contribute

to also note: the original first 2 photographs were originally 5456 x 3632 at 350dpi, and had to shrink down due to file size. This being the third time I wrote this

the return of Boredoodles- the N (Nu) series

I'm bringing back the Boredoodles, since the boredom comes at the most creative moments

Boredoodle N001
Drew these during an art stream, let each participant get a free request. Though I don't get a lot of people there. So this was the best turn out I could get. so most of these are used with a Character generating app I got from a friend
  1. Jackie Beaver- WMC (owned character)
  2. Neck Beard Slug- half generated
  3. Wrestling cat- Character Generator
  4. Amanda Bot- KajimiStarship (owned character)
  5. Cowardly Astronaut Monkey- Character Generator

These bellow I did while practicing my gesture drawings on Pixelovely. I ended up getting carried away and made them into finalized pieces/doodles. Give chance to my character designing skills to practice the human figure

And no, I will not apologize for the creation of Mocha Coone! in fact she's here to stay!!

Boredoodle N002
Also I wanted to upload these on other sites, though knowing some of them would have reported me if I had exposed nudity on them. So I made each site their very own censor bar

Wretneck at DeviantART is no more

Gotta love how he's crying, but then has a look that says "well, I tried my best!"

Goodbye so soon
And isn't this a crime?
We know by now that time knows how to fly
So here's goodbye so soon
You'll find your separate way
With time so short I'll say so long
And go
So soon
Goodbye

You followed me, I followed you
We were like each other's shadows for a while
Now as you see, this game is through
So although it hurts, I'll try to smile
As I say

Goodbye so soon
And isn't this a crime?
We know by now that time knows how to fly
So here's goodbye so soon
You'll find your separate way
With time so short I'll say so long
And go
So soon
Goodbye

Sketch Dailies drawings

A while back I started following this awesome thing on twitter called the Sketch Dailies
If you're an artist and like to have a challenge that both benefits your time and helps you interact with in a network of other artists.

Also it kind of gives me a feeling for ye olde college-student competition, but with annonymous people with only 100 x 100 pixel pictures for faces, and I'm a Lego as of late
